CS Pressure Reducers for Soaker Hoses and Garden Irrigation
A suitable pressure reducer limits excessive inlet pressure before the Soaker Hose. Compare the CS versions with 0,53 bar and 0,69 bar, as well as the combined filter and pressure reducer with 1 bar.
Protection and Operating Pressure
Limit Water Pressure and Operate Your Soaker Hose Correctly
CS Soaker Hoses operate at significantly lower pressures than many household water connections or garden pumps provide. A suitable pressure reducer reduces the inlet pressure to a level appropriate for the respective application. This reduces the stress on the hose and connectors caused by excessive pressure.
However, a pressure reducer neither increases the available water flow nor compensates for all pressure losses. Hose length, supply lines, filtration, water source and elevation differences remain crucial for irrigation performance.
- Preset versions with 0,53 or 0,69 bar
- Combined water filter with 1 bar pressure reducer
- Suitable fittings depending on the selected set
- Include water filtration and an adequate water supply in your planning
Model Selection
Which CS Pressure Reducer Is Right for Your System?
The models differ in their preset pressure, equalization opening and filtration function. Choose the version that matches your Soaker Hose and actual water supply conditions.

With Equalization Opening
CS Pressure Reducer 0,53 bar
0,53 bar
Preset pressure reducer for suitable CS irrigation systems. Water may escape through an equalization opening under certain operating conditions.
The equalization opening must not be sealed. The installation location should be suitable for possible water discharge.

Without Equalization Opening
CS Pressure Reducer 0,69 bar
0,69 bar
Preset version without an equalization opening. It is suitable for systems where water discharge through a relief opening is to be avoided.
For many pressure-reduced CS Soaker Hose applications, this value corresponds to the usual operating range.

Filtration and Pressure Regulation
CS Water Filter with Pressure Reducer
1 bar
Combination of a 125-micrometer water filter and an integrated 1 bar pressure reducer. Depending on the set, available with suitable tap connectors or quick hose connectors.
The device has a pressure relief opening. The preset pressure must be suitable for the hose variant used.

How to Install a Pressure Reducer Correctly in Your Irrigation System
The exact connection sequence depends on the components. Water filters and pressure reducers are generally installed upstream of the Soaker Hose.
Check the Water Source
Determine the available inlet pressure and water flow. Particularly with multiple irrigation runs, consider the supply line and pressure losses.
Filter the Water
Include a suitable water filter according to the water source. When using separate components, upstream filtration is often advisable.
Connect the Pressure Reducer
Check the installation direction and connections for the selected model. Install the pressure reducer upstream of the irrigation run that requires protection.
Check Under Operating Conditions
Open the water supply and check for leaks and proper water delivery. If necessary, measure the outlet pressure using a suitable measuring device under realistic operating conditions.
Important Difference
Pressure Reducers and Flow Restrictors Serve Different Purposes
Sufficiently low water pressure does not automatically mean that enough water reaches the end of a long Soaker Hose.
Limit Operating Pressure
Pressure Reducer
Reduces the inlet pressure to a range suitable for the product. Particularly relevant with higher mains water pressure or pump operation and when operating longer irrigation runs.
The water flow must remain sufficient despite pressure regulation.
Limit Water Flow
Flow Restrictor
Restricts the incoming water flow, for example in suitable short hose runs. It does not replace reliable pressure regulation and may cause insufficient water supply in longer runs.
Do not add a flow restrictor alongside a pressure reducer without checking the entire water flow path.
Technical Overview

|---|---|---|---|
| Pressure Setting | 0,53 bar, preset | 0,69 bar, preset | 1 bar, integrated |
| Equalization Opening | Yes | No | Yes, pressure relief opening |
| Water Filter | Provide separately | Provide separately | 125 micrometers integrated |
| Connections | Depending on the set, e.g. 1/2-inch click-connect system | Depending on the set, e.g. 1/2-inch click-connect system | 3/4-inch external thread, depending on the set with connectors |
| Selection Guidance | When design-related water discharge at the installation location is acceptable | When no pressure relief opening is desired | When filtration and pressure reduction are desired in a single component |
Please check the specifications of the selected set before ordering. The pressure ratings do not replace hydraulic planning of the entire irrigation system.
FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions About CS Pressure Reducers
Short answers about pressure, connections, pressure relief openings and testing.
What Is the Difference Between 0,53 and 0,69 bar?
Both versions reduce water pressure to different preset values. The 0,53 bar version shown here has an equalization opening, while the 0,69 bar version does not. The technical requirements of your Soaker Hose and the installation conditions are decisive.
Why Is Water Leaking from My Pressure Reducer?
With models featuring an equalization opening, water may escape through the relief opening due to their design. Such an opening must not be sealed. If unusual water discharge occurs, check the inlet conditions and follow the product-specific instructions. If connections are leaking, also inspect the seals and fittings.
Does a Pressure Reducer Replace a Flow Restrictor?
The two components serve different purposes. A pressure reducer regulates pressure, while a flow restrictor limits the water flow. Particularly with longer irrigation runs, the water supply should not be unnecessarily restricted.
Why Does a Test with an Open Outlet Not Work as Expected?
An open outlet creates different pressure and flow conditions compared with a connected Soaker Hose. A meaningful functional test should therefore be carried out with the intended system under actual operating conditions.
Can I Use the 1 bar Water Filter with Pressure Reducer for Every CS Soaker Hose?
No, not in every case. The combination is intended for suitable pressure-reduced systems. The pressure range, water source, filtration performance, hose type and installation length must all be compatible. This filter combination is not automatically suitable for gravity-fed irrigation with the Pressureless variant.
How Do I Maintain and Winterize the Pressure Reducer?
Check connections, filters and water delivery, particularly at the beginning of the irrigation season. At the end of the season, drain and remove frost-sensitive pressure reducers and connected accessories, and store them in a frost-free location.
