Technical Specifications of CS Soaker Hoses

CS Soaker Hose: Technical Specifications Compared

Pressureless, Startup, Premium and Profi differ in installation length, dimensions and water delivery. All four product lines are designed for a maximum water pressure of 1,5 bar. For practical irrigation, the appropriate working pressure for each product is crucial.

Pressure and Installation Length

Maximum 1,5 bar for All Four Product Lines

The pressure limit refers to the maximum permissible water pressure, not the recommended working pressure. When planning an irrigation system, the water source, pressure regulation and available water flow must be considered together.

Premium1,5 bar0,69 barUp to 75 mRecommended up to 15 m
Profi1,5 bar0,69 barUp to 100 mRecommended up to 15 m; system planning is particularly important

* With Pressureless, water is supplied at one end only. The other end is sealed with an end plug; this does not create a hydraulic loop supplied from both ends. For straight installation, the maximum length is 25 m. The specified lengths apply to individual irrigation runs and require a suitable water supply.

Dimensions

Inner Diameter and Wall Thickness

The following tolerance ranges are taken from the current technical data sheets for the Startup, Premium and Profi product lines. No unconfirmed tolerance values have been added for Pressureless.

Dimensions and Weight per Meter According to Technical Data Sheets
Product LineInner DiameterWall ThicknessColor
Startup12,0 mm2,3Black
Premium13,0 mm2,4Black
Profi13,2 mm2,7Black

These are ranges, not exactly identical dimensions for every individual hose section. The commonly used connection size “½ inch” should not be equated with an exact inner diameter of 12 mm.

Water Delivery

Liters per Meter per Hour: Consider Measurement Conditions

Water delivery depends on operating pressure, soil conditions, operating duration and system design. Values obtained under different conditions must not be compared as identical or guaranteed permanently constant performance.

Water Delivery at 0,6 bar
Product LineWater Delivery at 0,6 bar
Pressureless8–10 l/(m·h)
Startup6-8 l/(m·h)
Premium6-8 l/(m·h)
Profi6-8 l/(m·h)

What Changes During Operation?

The values above refer to water delivery after approximately 50 hours of irrigation. The values of 6–8 l/(m·h) for Startup, Premium and Profi and 8–10 l/(m·h) for Pressureless depend on soil conditions. These are not universally guaranteed values for every system.

Unit: l/(m·h) means liters per meter of Soaker Hose per hour. The water requirements of an entire system can only be estimated meaningfully when the actual available inlet flow, pressure losses and number of irrigation runs are taken into account.

Material and Installation

What Are CS Soaker Hoses Made Of?

The Startup, Premium and Profi product lines are made from recycled tire granulate and polyethylene.

For Pressureless, Startup, Premium and Profi, the installation depth is approx. 0–60 cm, depending on the type of plants. For above-ground installation, the hose must be covered with soil or bark mulch.

Application

Choose the Right Product Line in Four Steps

Technical tables provide a foundation for planning but do not replace an assessment of the entire water flow path.

  1. Determine the Water SourceHousehold water connection, pump or sufficiently elevated tank? For gravity-fed operation, the water column and pipe resistance are particularly important.
  2. Check Pressure and Water FlowDistinguish between maximum pressure and working pressure. In addition to sufficient pressure, the water supply must be able to serve all open irrigation runs.
  3. Plan Irrigation Run Lengths and TerrainConsider straight or circular installation, soil conditions, elevation differences and non-porous supply lines.
  4. Coordinate Filters and ConnectionsSelect suitable filtration, pressure reducers if necessary, distributors and end plugs. Check water delivery before covering the system.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About Technical Specifications

Can All CS Soaker Hoses Operate at a Maximum of 1,5 bar?

All four product lines are designed for a maximum water pressure of 1,5 bar. This value represents the permissible upper limit, not a general recommendation for continuous operation. According to the data sheets, the working pressure range for Startup, Premium and Profi is 0,4–0,6 bar; Pressureless is intended for a suitable gravity-fed water supply.

Why Is the Working Pressure Lower Than the Permissible Pressure Limit?

The maximum permissible pressure describes the pressure limit the hose is designed to withstand. The working pressure is intended to achieve the desired water delivery under the specified operating conditions. The required pressure regulation depends on the water source, product line and system configuration.

How Long Can an Individual CS Soaker Hose Be?

For straight installation, the maximum lengths are 25 m for Pressureless, 50 m for Startup, 75 m for Premium and 100 m for Profi. With circular installation of Pressureless, up to 50 m is possible, supplied from one end and sealed at the other. Separate recommendations apply to other installation methods.

Is Water Delivery Always Uniform Along the Hose?

Yes, with the correct pressure and flow rate, the CS Soaker Hose releases water evenly along its entire length.

What Does l/(m·h) Mean?

The unit indicates how many liters of water one meter of Soaker Hose releases in one hour. When planning multiple irrigation runs, it is also necessary to check whether the water source and supply line can provide sufficient water.
