CS Soaker Hose Startup

Soaker Hose Startup for Garden Beds and Raised Beds

The CS Soaker Hose Startup is an entry-level solution for irrigating vegetable beds, raised beds, herb gardens and other garden areas. Its porous hose wall releases water along the installed length.

Garden Irrigation Close to the Soil

Deliver Water Where Plants Grow

The CS Soaker Hose Startup is installed along planting rows or within garden beds. Water passes through the pores in the hose wall and enters the surrounding soil. How moisture spreads depends on factors such as soil type, pressure, water supply and hose length.

  • For vegetable beds, raised beds, herb gardens and planting areas
  • Above-ground installation, covered with mulch or installed underground
  • Manufactured from recycled tire granulate and recycled polyethylene
  • For operation with a suitable water source and regulated pressure

Connection and Planning

Plan Your Startup Irrigation System in Four Steps

Sufficient water supply, suitable filtration, correct pressure and an appropriate installation layout are essential.

  1. Choose the Water Source

Choose a mains water supply or another suitable water source. The available pressure and flow rate must meet the system’s requirements.

  2. Include a Filter and Pressure Reducer

A water filter reduces dirt particles. If the water pressure is too high, use a suitable pressure reducer to maintain the specified operating pressure.

  3. Plan the Hose Layout

Adapt the irrigation run length and layout to the shape of the garden bed. Avoid significant elevation differences and sharp kinks; seal the end with an end plug.

  4. Check Water Delivery

Check the connections and monitor soil moisture. Adjust irrigation duration and frequency according to the plants, weather and soil conditions.

Installation Lengths

Up to 50 Meters Straight or 15 Meters in Winding Layouts

The recommended lengths apply to each individual irrigation run and vary depending on the installation layout.

Recommended Installation Method

Straight Irrigation Runs

Up to 50 m

Keeping the hose as straight as possible along a planting row supports water flow. The end of the hose is sealed with an end plug.

Example: Vegetable beds and longer planting rows.

Installation Method with Length Restrictions

Winding and Circular Layouts

Up to 15 m

Numerous curves can affect water flow and distribution. These installation methods are therefore only intended for shorter irrigation runs.

Do not confuse these installation lengths with those of the Pressureless variant.

Divide Longer Supplied Rolls into Multiple Runs

A supplied length of 75 or 100 meters is not a permitted length for a single straight irrigation run. Divide the total hose length into several suitable runs and consider the required flow rate when operating them simultaneously.

Applications

Where the CS Soaker Hose Startup Can Be Used

The installation layout is adapted to the plants, the shape of the garden bed and the available water supply.

Vegetable Beds

Water delivery close to the soil surface along planting rows. Choose the spacing and operating time according to plant requirements and soil type.

Raised Beds

For smaller garden beds with suitable hose lengths and a reliable water supply.

Herbs and Flowers

For herb gardens, flower beds and other planted garden areas with a suitable hose layout.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions About the CS Soaker Hose Startup

Answers about water pressure, hose lengths, installation and operation.

How Long Should the CS Soaker Hose Startup Run?

There is no universally applicable operating time. Plant type, weather, soil conditions, pressure and actual water delivery are the key factors. Check the moisture in the root zone and adjust the duration and frequency accordingly.

Is the CS Soaker Hose Startup Suitable for a Rain Barrel Without a Pump?

The CS Soaker Hose Startup is designed for a regulated operating pressure. For gravity-fed operation at low water pressure, the CS Soaker Hose Pressureless product line is available.

Can I Use 75 or 100 Meters of Hose as a Single Run?

No. The supplied hose length may exceed the recommended installation length per run. For Startup, straight installation is limited to 50 meters, while winding and circular layouts are limited to a maximum of 15 meters per run. Larger hose quantities must be divided into several suitable runs.

Can I Shorten the Startup Hose and Install It Above Ground?

The hose can be cut to the required length and installed above or below ground. For above-ground installation, the Soaker Hose must be covered with bark mulch or a similar material. Use suitable fittings and an end plug.

Do I Need a Pressure Reducer and Water Filter?

A water filter is recommended to trap dirt particles. When using a pressurized mains water supply, a suitable pressure reducer is important to maintain the specified operating range. The components must be compatible with the water source and other connections.

Can the Soaker Hose Remain in the Garden Bed During Winter?

Yes, the Soaker Hose can remain installed during winter. The water supply must be shut off; frost-sensitive components such as filters, distributors, valves and irrigation controllers should be drained and stored in a frost-free location.
